Hallandale HS , Florida Gators alum & New York Jets WR Frankie Hammond Jr. Helps His Former High School Coach at Youth Camp

Sleeper Athletes was at Chaminade Madonna High School today to watch the Lions Youth Camp and we spotted Hallandale High School, Florida Gators alum & New York Jets WR Frankie Hammond Jr. playing both ways for one particular team. He threw some nice TD’s and even got a one-handed interception to help his team win. Hammond was helping his former high school head coach Dameon Jones, who is in his 2nd year as the Lions head coach.

Hammond is the true definition of a sleeper, receiving only one scholarship offer during his days at Hallandale High School but he took full advantage of it by starting 19 of the 48 games he played in recording 63 catches, 809 yards and six touchdowns. Hammond was also a high jumper for the Florida Gators track and field team.

Hammond was slept on again in the 2013 NFL Draft but signed an undrafted free agent deal with the Kansas City Chiefs and just recently signed with the New York Jets for the 2017 season. After the departure of Pro Bowl Wide Receiver Brandon Marshall, Hammond is looking to make a huge impact for the Jets.
